Thank you for your interest in coaching with Sun Prairie Youth Hockey for the 2025-26 Season!
BEFORE BEGINNING You must register with USA Hockey as a coach and obtain your USA Hockey Number. This registration, which is $52, must be done every season and is a separate registration than your child/players. This number will be used to track all additional requirements below.
There are 4 additional requirements for Coaches that should be completed as soon as possible, but MUST be completed by 12/31/2025:
- Coaching Education Program (CEP) - All Coaches must participate in the Coaching Education Program. Beginning in 2025-26 a 6U/8U CEP level (including LTS) has been implemented for all new coaches at these levels. New coaches do not need to progress to level 1 until they begin coaching 10U or above and will then begin their CEP at level 1. Once progression has begun (for both new and existing coaches), all coaches must advance at least one level each subsequent year until reaching level 4. Existing coaches must continue their CEP progression as indicated. Clinics are available from June 1 - December 15 of each year and are $65.
- Age Specific Modules - All Coaches must complete the module relevant to the level they will be coaching (MT08, 10U/12U or 13 Plus). You will only need to take this once until you coach a different level and these are $20-$25. Note: there is an additional pre-requisite course for 1st time coaches.
- Safe Sport Compliance - All coaches are required to have current/completed Safe Sport training PRIOR to any participation with youth athletes. This requirement must be completed by October 1, 2025. Safe Sport is required annually. Note: Individuals will take the core training the first time and then a Refresher course is available each subsequent season. This repeats on the fourth year going back to core training followed by three refresher courses.
- Background Check - Background checks must be done every 2 years and are $30.
